Any chance the local councilor has her foot on the brake at city hall as payback? This seems to me a ridiculously long suspension of work for a signature development that surely was reasonably within the approval arena. Where's the Mayor on this matter? He's the self-proclaimed City Builder, nes pas?
Ah yes, it's time for Urban Toronto's usual habit of blaming the gay asian woman on council for everything that doesnt go the way they want.

Ok, well in that case, the other Councillor, the one whose nose was way way out of joint from the get go.

We've already had one member banned for this. Not looking to make it two.

Where do you get this assumption? Bad experience yourself? Bold statement to call out one of the 20+ Trades involved in building a condo. Additionally, if you actually worked in the industry(which I can only assume you don't based on your comment) then you would know that plumbing (Mechanical) is actually usually one of the best trades due to the risk involved if their equipment fails. 1(one) pipe breaking that's found to be negligence could cost a Mechanical Contractor everything, it's not taken very lightly. Like all Trades though, they all have a bad egg.

I work in the construction industry.

You've mistakenly taken my point as some sort of attack on plumbers. The general average quality of condo construction is low, so I'm taking a shot at all trades, but more importantly, developers. Shitty plumbers often get more contracts because their low bid prices click with cheap developers who put cost suppression ahead of everything else. And bad plumbing does not gradually reveal itself like shitty glass and cladding, but explodes into consciousness by way of massive floods. It's a building system that when it fails, it fails spectacularly.

100%, but generalizing isn't really productive on this forum (and should also be in an another thread...). There are 30 year-old condos with issues, and 1-year old condos with issues. In my situation, I've lived in new and older buildings and have never had any major issues. However, there are developers with a track-record for low quality (that I purposely avoid) and those are the ones we should specifically be calling out the FACTS in another thread.

A bit back on topic....

Any updates on the construction site? Any workers milling around?

I'm looking at the site right now and it is empty and without any activity.

Damn not even a stump.

Kidding - sure this tempest in a teapot will resolve in a month.

If money is the real issue, I'd help source some cartel bucks, though not ethically sourced like many coffee beans.

Just another ill-advised attempt at humour while we wait. If I sound worried, I guess I join a few others on the forum ... breathe deep and wait.

Well this is kind of to be expected with the stop work order. They will have the permits to continue by January 30th so I would expect to see the site buzzing with activity by Friday.

Finally some optimism.

I'm not sure why so many on here are convinced or concerned about the this tower stalling indefinitely. Just go to The Ones website and count the remaining units. They have sold more then enough to solidify the construction of this beast. It does look like they are finding it tough to sell the 2-3 bedroom units still.

Based off of # of units sold per floor not sq footage. As of Jan 29th 2019
