It means the building permit has been applied for;

It's currently under review; assuming no unusual problems, a permit will likely be issued in the not too distant future, clearing the way for construction once the current demolition is complete.

However, the permit hasn't yet been issued, so the permission in place only covers demolition.

Permits for Mechanical and Plumbing have also been filed and under review; though their issuance is not a near-term concern.
Yeah, I figured it meant something important. And took it as a good sign for the project's development. Now I have a better idea what it is, so thanks for that! /bows

Red brick would clash badly with golden/yellow. I think this will look nice with the heritage buildings that are being retained.

I'm still surprised that the smaller brick building didn't qualify for retention. Considering some of the 'heritage' buildings in the city that are far less unique; they are often defended with significant effort by the city and locals.

It would have made a grand entrance for the condo tower. I guess it wasn't considered...

As for vigorous heritage defence, it was likely hurt by the fact that it was tucked on a short side street that hindered its visibility and thus awareness thereof. Out of sight, out of mind.

It doesn't make sense how some of the other cheap old buildings get saved and not this little detailed art deco wall. They should be a preservation law to a least preserve the concreate parts . To be sold and used in other developers that want to incorporate it into there projects.

Just a couple of shots, rather non-action, taken February 14th, 2021.

They just fill out the sides I missed the other day (west and south)....but not much visible on those sides.

I think it could have been preserved and moved to the courtyard or atrium like was the case with the old bank facade inside the Caltrava atrium of BCE Place.

I think it was barbaric that this got the wrecking ball , meanwhile a lacklustre late 50s industrial building gets preserved and incorporated into the soulless podium of Sugar Wharf condos.
