I see they are putting up the Well signage, good signs!

"Well" spotted

Canopy update

In this thread, and some others, there was discussion of the need to coordinate upcoming projects for road work, streetscaping work and Toronto Water through the area around The Well, along Wellington and Portland among other streets.

The City has issued a tender (April 1st} to cover the aforementioned works.

I love the fact that this is like no other development in Toronto or even Canada. That glass canopy and the whole public realm is something special. I just wish they had more destination shopping instead of retail of just local interest. This one of a kind development is too good for a mundane Shoppers Drug Mart! It needs a Simons and some other major stores, along with some cool, independent, little shops.

I love that they focused on materiality on the lower levels and kept it relatively simple for the towers. It provides the tower residents with their sought after city views since the towers are glass and creates some contrast with the base.

I love how the terra cotta, brick, pavers and steel canopy add so much texture to what could really have been a soul-less outdoor mall. I know it may be too early to tell and cast judgement but it's looking a lot more inviting and organic than Hudson Yards (which i know isn't the ideal to aspire to anyways) .
