I had the same thing happen on the top floor of an apt. The booms, which sound like loud thunder and could wake the dead, come from the concrete roof in extreme cold. You get used to it after awhile, but it's quite shocking when you first hear it in the middle of the night!
 
Yeah, I first heard them this winter in the extreme cold. My concrete balcony was cracking. First time it happened it woke me up at night and I jumped out of bed, thinking that an intruder had somehow barged my door open. It was really loud and odd.

Anyways, this building looks so good. Huge skyline contribution here.
