Ahh Valletta! How were the new gate and government buildings coming along?

Jayomatic.. I didn't get a chance to see either; I'm ashamed to say the missus was looking at Sliema condos the whole time we were there.

Fortunately we will not likely add to the 'condo-fication' woes of the long time residents; Malta is a very long plane ride from Toronto.

One of the most sublimely beautiful places in the world.

Ah, Malta! We enjoyed it (went with locals) but didn't leave as strong of an impression as other Mediterranean places we've visited.

See that you've picked up on the made-in-London ironwork. It's odd too that there are UK chains in Malta, including M&S. I made the mistake of bringing European electrical socket adaptors, when in fact sockets are oddly UK spec. I'm told the ironic Malta busses were replaced by turquoise painted ex-London rigs. And my wife went nuts when we found a live hedgehog on the beach.

How was the seafood? The cheese-pastries? The cheap beers?

The seafood was great; the other vittles I didn't touch on account of my waistline. :)

We'll go again.

Huge number of Brits there in retirement right now accounts for the English angle on everything...
