Took this in-motion yesterday, so not a great shot. It's one of the south Tawatina piers thats seems to be getting more and more attention each day, something must be very wrong. Anyone know what that metal device is doing at the top of the pier?

Yeah from the looks of it they are going to take the load off the existing pier so that it can be replaced/significantly reworked. Wonder if they'll have to do that to all the damaged piers?

I was driving down 98 Ave the other day and they looked to be putting some sort of angle iron on the one pier's edges so wonder if the repairs will be different depending on what is determined to be wrong with each pier.
 
This work will be really hard if the winter weather is harsh. The steel supports will face a lot of different ground conditions.

^^^^ As high as an elephant's eye -- plans are in the "preliminary" phase so there are no renderings or finally developed concepts as of yet. There is talk of providing another so-called anchor store mid-mall with a "service wing" that caters specifically to transit users, sub-surface parking and a rental tower with (perhaps) another hotel entity. Emphasis on "pre" in preliminary.
