Of the horde of new developments popping up along Brickell Avenue in Miami, One Brickell may be the most promising. Developed by Related Group, one of the region's foremost city builders, the development will bring a tremendous amount of mixed-use density to the area in the form of three towers of differing heights.
The first phase of the project is scheduled to begin construction in late 2016. It will consist of a 75-storey, 247-metre (811-foot) tower accommodating 250 hotel rooms and condominium uses. Joining it will be a 57-storey, 189-metre (619-foot) residential building with 50,000 square feet of office space and 30,000 square feet of restaurant space.
A 10-storey marble-clad building currently housing The Capital Grille restaurant will be demolished to allow room for the 82-storey, 262-metre (859-foot) skyscraper that will act as the signature component of the development. Advertising for the project began in 2015, with hoarding enveloping the site that directed people to register for more information at OneBrickell.com.
The Arquitectonica-designed complex institutes a pattern of undulating balconies, creating a wave-like effect that will yield dramatic views for both onlookers and those occupying the buildings. One Brickell is one of the most ambitious projects to date for Related Group, whose presence and reputation is only growing stronger with each sale they achieve.
