The Highline neighbourhood in New York is a developing area with real estate rates that often dwarf that of NYC itself. One new addition to the area will be a boutique residence located at 514 West 24th Street. Standing 10 storeys high, The Fitzroy is set to bring 14 residential units to the neighbourhood at the selling rate of $2,850 per square foot on average.

Developed by JDS Development Group and designed by Roman and Williams inside and out, The Fitzroy calls on a style of architecture that began to disappear in New York at the turn of the last century as the city began to favour the vertical potential of taller and taller towers.

Although recent construction in the Chelsea and Highline area has followed this trend and favoured the more modern, glass curtain wall aesthetic, Roman and Williams opted for a neo-Art Deco design with a green terracotta and copper exterior for The Fitzroy, a theme that continues into the units of the building themselves.

The unit bathrooms boast a steam shower and radiant heated flooring as well as a handheld shower with thermostatic controls. A blackened brass vanity and inked wood cabinet contrast the different forms of marble that grace the walls and floors of the bathrooms. Carrying on the copper detailing, the lighting and bath fixtures are made of copper, with the statement piece being the copper soaking tub, establishing an eclectic yet calming ambiance.

The herringbone solid oak floors compliment the dark wood island and cabinetry in the units' kitchens, while black finishings punctuated with copper details create a distinctive flow throughout the residences. Adding to the luxurious feel of the units are north and south exposures in every home, 11-foot ceilings and 8-foot oak doors, private elevator entrances, and fine mill-work throughout the homes. In the way of amenities, The Fitzroy also offers a 24-hour concierge service, a wine cellar, a fitness gym, and outdoor landscaped areas for select units.

Estimated to reach completion in late 2016 or early 2017, The Fitzroy building will boast historic character in its exterior and will exude rich, elegant eclecticism in its interiors.
