Since their debut in early 2015, progress has been moving along steadily at the site of The Molasky Group of Companies's 15-storey Sky3 Apartments currently nearing completion in the heart of Portland.
Designed by Ankrom Moisan, the Sky3 Apartments feature a muted colour palette and a decidedly more traditional use of exterior glass, with windows set amid a grey and beige panelled facade composed of aluminum and limestone respectively.
The 196-unit rental tower will contain 39 affordable housing units, 13,000 square feet of ground-level retail, and two levels of underground parking with space for 89 cars and 294 bicycles.
The base will eventually be home to retail, which will meet the street with a glass facade protected by a metal-clad overhang, which will provide cover from the West Coast city's rainy weather.
To be completed by early 2017, the Sky3 Apartments will be a welcome addition to the area. The site was once the home of a row of historic yet condemned low-rise apartments, which had been closed for years by the local fire department as a serious fire hazard. Part of Portland's ongoing revitalization, the Sky3 Apartments, with their retail frontage and 39 affordable units, are sure to be a hit within the epicentre of the city's famously progressive, urban-friendly downtown.
SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
