Rising from the former footprint of an all-but-gone 1920s-era Spanish style apartment block, the construction of Greystone Property Development and Alta Developers' 2500 Biscayne Boulevard has been progressing steadily since construction began back in 2015. Located in the heart of the quickly rising Edgewater district of Miami, the Behar, Font & Partners-designed, 20-storey, 156-unit apartment block has already begun to become a part of the local skyline.
Having recently reached full height, the 20-storey apartment tower is beginning to resemble the finished product, with the tower's white cladding and window glazing now well underway. It will not be long until the tower's exterior is complete, as the building is set for occupancy in 2017.
Rising as it does from a historic building, the facade of which will soon be restored and incorporated into the modern tower, there is little that architecturally relates the two structures together, other than a common address. Stark white and thoroughly modern, the new development is juxtaposed against the historic charm and subdued pastel palette of the former Spanish-style apartment block, which dates to the early 1920s.
Once complete, 2500 Biscayne Boulevard will host the usual mix of amenities, with renters likely drawn to the neighbourhood's proximity to the coast and quick access to downtown. Below, a rendering of the finished product reveals what to expect upon completion in 2017.
