Slated to become suburban Parramatta's first building of its type, a proposal put forward by architect Woods Bagot for 8 Phillip Street has recently come forward. Once built, the 54-storey hotel and residence tower will do much to transform the skyline of the well-established Sydney suburb, which is currently home to a mix of residential streets, office towers, and apartment blocks.

Designed in conjunction with hotelier QT Hotel, the mixed-use tower will be comprised of 14 storeys of designer hotel suites, situated directly below an additional 35 storeys of luxury rental apartments. The designer hotel will feature a three-storey lobby, separated from the apartment entrance, which will be centred around a grand staircase inspired by the one found within the Louis Vuitton flagship store in Vienna. In addition to this, the hotel amenities will include a restaurant, meeting room, and rooftop infinity pool.

To be built by local developer Coronation Property, the new suburban development will be the first of its kind in the area, part of an outward shift from the city centre that has seen the spread of office towers and condos to Parramatta over the last decade. Upon its projected completion date of 2020, 8 Phillip Street will be a welcome addition to the region, as the Parramatta business district is expected to grow by 30 percent over the next five years.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
