Residents of Sunny Isles Beach just north of Miami can now truly appreciate the scale of the city's second largest residential tower, now that Fortune International Group's Jade Signature has topped out. As the developer and construction crews celebrated the major milestone, a drone was sent up into the air to capture the 57-storey tower designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architecture practice Herzog & de Meuron. The resulting images depict sweeping views of the tower's refined form, increasingly clad in glazing and topped by two red tower cranes.

Suffolk Construction has been assembling the 192-unit tower at a rate of about one floor per week. Project work included the completion of a three-storey underground parking facility, and considering the development is being built on a site only 40 feet from the coastline, it's an unprecedented achievement. With the shell of the skyscraper completed, the concepts of Parisian interior design firm PYR and landscape architect Raymond Jungles are gradually coming to fruition.

Various development officials prepared remarks to honour the topping out while looking ahead to the scheduled late 2017 opening. "We are extremely proud to reach this milestone because it highlights the effort of our outstanding team of professionals that conceived a wonderful dream and then planned and executed it to perfection," said President and CEO of Fortune International Group, Edgardo Defortuna. "Jade Signature is becoming the standard that other luxury waterfront residences will be measured by, and we can’t wait to start delivering units to our buyers towards the end of 2017."

The big appeal with any oceanfront development is obviously the view, so the interior layouts service that notion with open-plan designs. Strong exterior columns have been incorporated into the architecture allowing for flow-through living spaces, so visual links to the outdoors are bountiful. There's plenty of shade too for extra sunny days — large overhangs provide shade to extensive terraces that increase the overall livable area of the unit by 30 percent.

There will also be an impressive array of amenities on tap for residents of all ages. Spread across three expansive floors, Jade Signature will contain an entertainment lounge, teen tech lounge, toddler sensory and reading centre, beach bar and grill, and a relaxing spa complemented by a yoga deck and zen garden. The design of the project's pool deck and gardens are seamlessly integrated with the residential configurations, with available homes spanning 3,465 to 11,661 square feet and fetching $4.8 million to $32.9 million.
