The 16,000-square-metre site in Frankfurt's dense central business district was purchased in 2015 and previously housed office space for Deutsche Bank. The new vision laid out stretches the lot's potential by proposing four towers reaching heights of 228 metres. A mixed-use program ensures the vitality of the space during the day and at night, with residences, offices, hotels, and retail all having a place in the sweeping development.

"FOUR Frankfurt will be built, first and foremost, for the people of Frankfurt. It will not only add to the city's skyline, but also to the liveliness of Frankfurt as a whole," said Ben van Berkel, Founder and Principal Architect, UNStudio. "A development with this level of urban effect is particularly timely, as Frankfurt is currently taking up an even bigger role on the European stage. To play a role in this urban transition is a fantastic opportunity for UNStudio and our new consortium partners HPP."

The complex rises out of a multi-storey plinth that connects the entire site. The heritage-listed facades along the thoroughfare Junghofstraße will be incorporated into the design. UNStudio has established an office in Frankfurt's Westend to be closer to the action as the project is realized.
