The Skidmore, Owings & Merrill-designed Parkline Towers, the signature vertical element of the integrated MiamiCentral development, is starting to make an impact in the downtown skyline. In addition to a plethora of retail, office and residential space, the heart of the mixed-use project is All Aboard Florida's Brightline system, which will provide higher-speed rail service between Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and eventually Orlando.
The inter-city express train currently connects Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach in Southeast Florida, with service coming to Miami in the next few months. MiamiCentral will also act as a central hub for Tri-Rail commuter rail, Metrorail, Metromover and a number of bus lines.
The multi-building development recently celebrated its first completion with 3 MiamiCentral coming online. The 12-storey glass office tower is attached to an above-ground parking garage covered in murals and friezes. 2 MiamiCentral, now topped off above the rail line, will bring an additional 190,000 square feet to the neighbourhood.
The 33- and 30-storey Parkline Towers are becoming the most prominent facets of the diverse development so far, as their concrete skeletons climb into the dense Miami cityscape. The highrises will hold 816 apartments between them, and a long list of amenities — including a two-acre deck, outdoor dining areas, and a large pool — will greet residents taking occupancy in 2019.
In the more immediate future, the multi-level 50,000-square-foot CentralFare food hall, part of over 180,000 square feet of retail and beverage space under construction, is anticipating a spring 2018 opening.
