Hamilton developer Vrancor Group has proven instrumental in the city's urban renaissance, introducing a slate of new hotel rooms — Staybridge Suites and Homewood Suites — to the core in recent years. They followed those wins with further projects, this time bringing condominiums to 150 Main Street West, and apartments in the neighbouring 28-storey Bella Tower. The company's latest venture sees more emphasis on height, packing 230 one-, two- and three-bedroom units within a 32-storey residential complex at 20-22 George Street.

The last of the five-building commitment made by Vrancor to support the revitalization of Hamilton's downtown features a design by Kirkor Architects that combines rectilinear and curvilinear geometry. The building greets the street with a seven-storey podium inclusive of ground-level retail, a single level of hotel parking, and five floors of municipal public parking. Another two levels of parking, situated underground, will be devoted exclusively for residents' use.

The podium rooftop isn't wasted space — it houses outdoor amenities, with a large section functioning as a green roof. These outdoor amenities act as extensions of the interior programming found on the eighth floor, which includes a multipurpose room, dining room, theatre and fitness area.

A recent batch of photos uploaded to our Forum shows the state of construction so far. Crews are nearing structural completion of the above-grade parking deck, and cladding has begun installation on the lower levels. The podium exterior will be composed of glass, perforated metal panels, brick piers and precast frames, according to the submitted urban design brief. The tower will be wrapped in window wall designed with the goal of maximizing views.
