Just announced, National Bank has appointed the Montreal-based Menkès Shooner Dagenais LeTourneux Architectes to design their new headquarters in the heart of Montreal's old financial district. Following the $100 million purchase of a 135,000 square-foot lot at the corner of Robert Bourassa Boulevard and Saint-Jacques Street, National Bank appointed local developer Broccolini to take lead on construction, the addition of a Montreal-based design firm serving to bolster the project's Montreal roots.

At 46 storeys, the National Bank will become one of the tallest office towers in Montreal upon its completion in 2022, bringing more than 1 million square feet of office space to the downtown core. Designed to make maximum use of the available natural light, the tower's design has been carefully considered, so that employees will have an array of inviting, user-friendly spaces for individual work, co-work, and meetings. Part of National Bank's recent office space modernization project, the new tower and headquarters will serve as a model example of the the type of work culture and environment the company is trying to foster.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as details and design images continue to develop. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
