Currently on the rise in New York's Upper East Side, the DDG-desgined 180 East 88th Street has quickly become a fixture of the local skyline, the 50-storey, 159-metre luxury tower soon to be the tallest of its kind north of 72nd Street. Capped with a metallic crown, the tower's unmistakeable silhouette will soon be home to 48 residential units, split between a range of sizes and arrangements from lofts to five-bedrooms, including duplexes and a penthouse triplex.
Loosely evocative of Manhattan's Art Deco past, DDG's designs for the tower include many decorative sculptural elements, the masonry facade itself a tribute to the city's built heritage.
Viewed above, a rendering of an upper floor terrace shows off an impressive south-facing view of the Manhattan skyline, the inclusion of floor-to-ceiling windows to provide residents with ample natural light in addition to sweeping cityscape vistas.
Spacious and outfitted with high-quality finishes, each of the units will provide generous living spaces and breathtaking views, nearby Central Park offering a picturesque backdrop.
Down at street level, the partially hidden entranceway will bring residents into the lobby space via a bronze gate, the lush landscaping to offer a welcoming respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.
SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
