Topped off with cladding not far behind, Fifield Companies and F&F Realty's 44-storey 727 West Madison is now nearing completion in Chicago's quickly evolving West Loop. Designed by FitzGerald Associates Architects, the oval-shaped, 151-metre residential tower has already become a neighbourhood fixture, its distinctive silhouette having risen to its full height since our last update.

Viewed above in close-up, 727 West Madison's signature, multi-coloured glass curtain wall is now less than 10 storeys from the top of the tower. The top two floors feature additional ceiling height, which will be a main selling feature for the premium penthouse suites.

Part of the the West Loop's ongoing intensification, 727 West Madison is but the latest high-rise project to get underway in the immediate vicinity. The tower's cylindrical silhouette will terminate close to ground level, coming to rest atop a multi-storey rectilinear podium that will house a combination of above-ground parking and street-level retail.

Soon to be home to 492 apartments, the tower's oval shape will allow for panoramic views of the downtown skyline, the project located just across the Kennedy Expressway (above) from the Chicago Loop.

SkyriseCities wil be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
