Recently topped-off and with glazing work now well underway, the 12-storey Hoxton Hotel by Shapack Partners has been racing along, the latest addition to Fulton Market now moving into its final stages of construction. Located at 200 N Green Street, just west of The Loop, the well-situated project will place guests within the heart of trendy Fulton Market, just steps away from Morgan Station and the bustling W Randolph Street corridor to the immediate south.
Designed by Morris Adjmi Architects and GREC Architects, the 175-guest Hoxton Hotel occupies the former site of an auto mechanic garage and meatpacker, true to the working-class history of the neighbourhood. Thus in keeping with Fulton Market's built heritage, the hotel rises above a multi-storey podium level, which has been faced in brick in order to fit more seamlessly into the surrounding streetscape.
Adding to the structure's industrial aesthetic, the distinctive, textural quality of the Hoxton Hotel's tower portion will be created thanks to the inclusion of a grid pattern of square warehouse-type windows.
Joining a long list of complementary projects in the neighbourhood, the Hoxton Hotel will likely be a popular destination for urban travellers upon its debut in 2019, the rooftop terrace and Chicago-based Boka Restaurant Group addition to add to the project's cachet. For locals, the inclusion of two levels of office space will be on-point for the neighbourhood, which has recently become home to an influx of tech companies and start-ups.
SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
