Two months since our last update, and progress at the site of 727 West Madison has been moving along nicely, with cladding application work having now spread to the podium level of the 151-metre residential tower. Designed by FitzGerald Associates Architects for Fifield Companies and F&F Realty, the West Loop-area high-rise will soon be a neighbourhood staple, its distinctive oval shape having now become a fixture of the downtown skyline.

Having now reached the top of the tower, the blue-tinted glazing plays nicely against the aquamarine tone of the attached podium down below. Set to house the structure's above ground parking garage, the multi-storey addition has been made much more aesthetically pleasing owing to its glassy makeover.

Viewed below in close-up, the exterior of the parking garage has been clad with a porous lattice of fritted glazing, thereby forming a distinctive push-pull effect. The ground level will be filled out with street-facing retail, which will be of benefit to the immediate pedestrian environment.

Once complete, the 44-storey tower's 492 will deliver up to 800 new residents to the neighbourhood, West Loop fast becoming a hotbed of high-density development.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
