Nearly four months since our last update, and progress at the site of Central Park Tower has been moving along swiftly, the supertall 473-metre tower by Adrian Smith +Gordon Gil Architecture having soared to new heights. Located at the foot of Central Park at West 57th Street, the 179-unit luxury tower will feature stunning park and city views across every of its nearly 100 storeys.

Billed as New York's most expensive condo tower, its construction coming in just shy of $1 billion, the supertall, super skinny tower will no doubt attract a extremely premium clientele.

Sprouting from it base near Columbus Circle, the well-located tower will rise high above its seven-storey retail podium, the development to be anchored by a 300,000 square-foot Nordstrom department store.

Co-developed by Extell Development Company and SMI USA, the project will join an elite club of supertall towers, including the Burj Khalifa and Shanghai Tower, the project to bring New York in line with many other world cities in terms of its ever-growing collection of architectural "statement" pieces.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
