Eighteen months since our last update, and progress at the site of the Latitude Medical Center has been moving along nicely, the two-tower mixed use project located at the Texas Medical Center in Houston now nearing completion. Comprised of the recently completed 35-storey, 375-unit rental tower, and the nearly complete 21-storey, 353-room InterContinental-branded hotel and office block, the development is close to wrapping up.

Located at 6750 S Main St, the development will place residents, hotel guests, and office workers alike within easy walking distance to Dryden/TMC LRT station, thereby providing easy access to downtown. For those either in the medical profession, or seeking medical attention, the address will be highly convenient, being only a stone's throw away from the sprawling Texas Medical Center and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Developed by Greystar and designed by HOK, the apartment tower was completed earlier this summer, the bulk of the structure resting squarely atop an eight-storey parking garage. Sharing lobby space with the adjacent, Medistar-developed hotel, also by HOK, the hotel will include 25,000 square feet of office space, and will meet the street with a mix of retail and restaurants.

Once complete, the Latitude Medical Center will work to humanize the area, the influx of pedestrian traffic to bring a more urban vibe to the neighbourhood.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
