Just weeks since our last update, and glazing work has been blazing ahead at the site of Tour Alto in Paris' La Défense district on the outskirts of the city. As the 38-storey, 150-metre tower by IF Architectes, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, and La Défense Public Development Agency (Epadesa), continues to rise, so to do the countless glass panels that make up the exterior of the structure.

Having now reached at least four storeys above grade, the cladding and glazing work now underway has already begun to transform the look of the tower. Tinted in an aquamarine hue, the panels give the tower a soft colour palette, a tone that contrasts nicely against its surroundings.

Part of La Défense's ongoing urban renewal, Tour Alto will include a 2,000 square-metre public realm element that will take the form of an outdoor terrace and plaza at the base of the tower (below).

Tour Alto is set for completion in 2020, by which time it will join several others in the area which will have either been recently finished or nearly complete, thereby increasing the pedestrian vibrancy of Paris' business district.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
