While the Crenshaw/LAX Line moves closer to completion, little has been seen of how exactly the new light rail line will interface with the Los Angeles International Airport. Newly released renderings of the Airport Metro Connector station thus go a long way to remedy this, giving curious onlookers their first taste of what will be a transformative piece of infrastructure for the city.

The new inter-modal station will connect the Green Line and new Crenshaw/LAX Line, both to share a single platform, in addition to hosting a 32-bay bus station - all of this in addition to providing an eventual direct connection to the LAX People Mover.

The Metro Airport Connector station will be bright and airy thanks to ample sunlight making its way all the way to track level via a canopy of overhead skylights.

Adding another intriguing element to the station's design, the inclusion of a purpose-built bike hub (below) will serve to attract even more users to the new station.

Should construction on the Crenshaw/LAX line and People Mover continue at the current pace, the former could be ready as early as next year, the latter to enter full operation by 2023.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
