Quay Tower in Brooklyn Heights has recently taken the crown for Brooklyn's most expensive penthouse, the $20 million (USD) unit outpacing recent luxury sales in the popular New York burrough by several million dollars. Boasting panoramic views of the East River and Manhattan skyline, the 7,433 square-foot penthouse comes with an equally impressive 1,179 square-foot terrace, making it the perfect urban oasis for a buyer in Brooklyn's exclusive but growing high-end luxury market.

The unit in question will be the result of combining two Marmol Radziner-designed suites into one. The 30th floor penthouse suite will thus be beautifully appointed with a California modernist aesthetic, thereby bringing a bit of the West Coast to the East.

Beyond the usual luxury accouterments and high-end finishes, Quay Tower has partnered with Amazon to make the penthouse, along with the rest of the units, Alexa-compatible. This capability will add a decidedly hi-tech element to the development, with owners able to control and customize their units with the swipe of a smartphone.

Part of Brooklyn Heights' ongoing urban transformation, Quay Tower is leading the charge in the area's expanding luxury market. Today a destination neighbourhood, away and apart from being a bargain, the area has now begun to command prices very comparable to Manhattan.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
