Rising fast in Chicago's Oak Park Village, west of the core, Albion at Oak Park is quickly becoming a neighbourhood staple. Located 1t 1000 Lake Street at the heart of Oak Park Village's commercial strip, the 19-storey, 265-unit, residential high-rise development by Albion Residential and HPA will soon be home to nearly 400 people.

Albion at Oak Park will sit atop a 6,500 square-foot ground floor retail space with frontage upon Lake Street. To the rear of the structure, which backs onto Austin Gardens, a series of setbacks will allow for both ample natural sunlight, and for the creation of multiple, vegetation-heavy, outdoor terraces, which will grace the development from top to bottom.

In fact, there will be a significant green presence upon the whole exterior of the tower, its stacked volumes to allow for the placement of several well-placed rows of vegetation (as seen below). Trees and other foliage will delineate each "stack," and will help ingratiate the development into the adjacent park land.

For transit users, Albion at Oak Park's proximity to the Oak Park CTA station will be a definite bonus, as will the development's prime location within the heart of Oak Park Village, populated as it is with a good blend of local retail and dining options. A fine addition to the area, Albion at Oak Park is scheduled for completion by the end of 2019.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
