Coming soon to Montreal's Quartier des spectacles, a proposal for a massive two-tower mixed-use development has been put forward by Devimco Immobilier, Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ, and Fiera Properties which will transform the downtown skyline. Designed by Lemay, the 51- and 53-storey towers will be home to a combined 1,500 residential units split between 1,000 condos and 500 rentals, with retail at grade.

Italian for "mastery," Maestria will dominate the local skyline, its two towers to sit at a 90° degree angle to one another, their mid-sections to be connected via an illuminated skybridge. Viewed in close-up detail below, the skybridge feature has a cool, highly futuristic vibe, appearing like something out of a dystopian video game.

The $700 million development will be one of the most expensive in recent memory for the city, with construction set to begin by early next year. Indeed, it would appear that Montreal is in the midst of a modern urban rebirth, its core now the site of several high-profile projects.

Maestria will straddle Jeanne-Mance, De Bleury, and Sainte-Catherine Streets, the 25th floor skybridge (to be host to a restaurant and lounge) to feature commanding views of the Place des Festivals down below. The site of numerous celebrations and festivals, the Quartier des spectacles will offer residents and their guests with a year round source of entertainment.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
