Construction of the largest hotel in Europe's Benelux region has reached its highest point, with the concrete core of the OMA-designed nhow Amsterdam RAI largely completed. The 91-metre-tall building strategically positions itself within Amsterdam's Zuidas district, catering to exhibition visitors, business travellers and tourists.

Beginning construction in October 2016, the 25-storey building by partners COD and Being Development will boast the NH Hotel Group's nhow brand when it opens in 2020. The tenth floor of the 650-room complex will feature a luxury spa and wellness program, while the uppermost floor comes with a restaurant, bar and high-end TV studio. Parking underneath the hotel will provide stalls for 200 vehicles.

OMA's design of shifting stacked triangles was selected following a tendering process for the project which saw a total of eleven architectural entries. The winning proposal was given extra points for its devotion to special facilities, including a gallery and sculpture garden.
