A Heatherwick Studio-designed residential development is rising above Manhattan's famous High Line. A modern interpretation of Chelsea's warehouse style, 515 West 18th Street's bay window and custom masonry facade brings unique new perspectives to the elevated walkway.

Comprised of two buildings, at 22 and 10 storeys, the project encompasses approximately 180 one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom residences. Differing in height, the towers are situated to take advantage of cityscape and Hudson River vistas.

"At the smallest scale, the raw brick exterior, influenced by Chelsea's heritage of industrial brick buildings, will give a handmade feel and micro-texture to the facade," says Heatherwick. "At the largest scale, the use of the three-dimensional windows will add another distinctive layer of textural character to the fabric of the city."

Built by The Related Companies, the structure topped out late last year. Interiors will soon be furnished and finished with a number of amenities, including a fitness centre, spa and entertainment lounges. Occupancy is scheduled for 2020.
SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
