Pritzker Prize-winner Jean Nouvel's first built project in Florida has officially topped out in South Beach. Biscayne Bay's Monad Terrace, spearheaded by JDS Development, is designed as a response to the natural qualities of its surroundings, using daylight, water, and a combination of glass and steel to facilitate reflections that mimic the ocean.

At the heart of Monad Terrace will lie a glittering water garden comprised of a central lagoon, reflective pools and adjacent swimming pools. An abundance of native landscaping flows through the property, including individual homes, which are given privacy via climbing gardens of Bougainvillea and Passion Vines.

Containing 59 waterfront residences, including four expansive penthouses, the development's central reflecting pools aim to direct light upwards and outwards into each unit. Dubbed 'the reflection machine' for this very reason, floor-to-ceiling glass windows will also play a key role in maximizing the entrance of natural light.

Aerial images of the construction site demonstrate the progress of the structurally complete tower. The signature water garden can be seen under construction, while closer detail shots focus on the unique sawtooth facade that will optimize ocean views for every resident.

Monad Terrace was designed in collaboration with local architect Kobi Karp and was unveiled to the public in May 2016. It is currently on track for completion next year.
