Montreal's largest residential development in history is now officially underway following a ceremonial ground breaking last week. Development partners Devimco Immobilier, the Fonds immobilier de solidarité FTQ and Fiera Real Estate are building the two-tower project, which will climb 61 and 57 storeys and feature 1,750 residential units between them.

Designed by architecture studio LemayMaestria's asymmetrical volumes are attached by an aerial walkway at the 26th and 27th floors, the highest in any residential project in Quebec. On the ground, a public plaza will be activated by street-level shops, restaurants and office space.

Projected to cost over $700 million, Maestria will rise from the ashes of the Spectrum concert hall, which was closed in 2007 and demolished one year later. The launch of the project in November 2018 was a resounding success, with 75 percent of the 438 condominium units in the first tower sold in only a few months. Coupled with the ground breaking ceremony came an announcement of sales for the second tower, which will contain 611 condominiums and 340 rental units.

"The demand is there, and the real estate market is going strong, which is enabling us, with the help of our partners, to develop projects as distinctive and avant-garde as Maestria," said Serge Goulet, President of Devimco Immobilier. "We are proud to be establishing a presence in this thriving artistic neighbourhood."

Residents of Maestria will have a number of amenities to explore and indulge in, including indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness room, a virtual golf room, a children's playroom, a movie theatre and games room, and a library. Two Skylounges, terraces and a private space dubbed the SkyBox will animate the 26th and 27th floors, where the mid-air walkway is located.
