A major residential project in Manama, Bahrain took another step towards construction recently with the awarding of a contract to materials supplier Kingdom Group. Orchid Building Contracting, a subsidiary of Orchid Developers, signed the deal last week, bringing their Spiral Orchid Residence development closer to reality.

The 41-storey luxury residential skyscraper will be located in Water Garden City, part of Manama's Seef District. It will contain a total of 364 units spread across a 64,000-square-metre frame, taking the shape of an ascending spiral.

The development is expected to include a wide range of amenities for residents to keep busy. A mini-golf course, indoor and outdoor pool, cinema, children's playground, squash court, volleyball court, mini-basketball court, bowling alleys, gymnasiums, steam rooms and a games room are all proposed. A seven-level underground parking garage will also provide space for 395 vehicles.

The 18-month contract is valued at $6.6 million USD. Under the deal, several companies affiliated with Kingdom Group will supply building materials for the project, including ready-mix concrete and washed sand.

Spiral Orchid Residence is approximately 50 percent sold and is scheduled for delivery in two-and-a-half years.
