Enjoy the Christmas lighting on (arguably) the world's number one skyline!

holy lights!

merry christmas!

Night photos only, and competently done indeed. You may deserve an award for these things alone.

But then after a well presented series of images, you end with one of my favourite places, the Peninsula Hotel, looking as regal as ever. Overall, an inspired collection of images for which I give you much credit.

Thanks again, have fun, and Seasons Greetings from Canada!

Good Hong Kong holiday pics!

Wylie: Good pics of Hong Kong decorated for the holidays at night-what was the temperature that night of those pics? I recall that HK is one of the world's densest-populated cities due to its valley location. I noted that Vegas East quip-is that the way HK is? Now that is a memorable skyline...LI MIKE

There have been several arguments on this topic on WNY. In fact I participated in one, arguing that it was a matter of taste rather than which one was the world's number 1 skyline.

The fact that HK and NYC actually have more than 1 skyline and are island cities and HK has a higher density despite a slightly lower population size, all make it fair comparison.

There happens to be a small subset there that normally dismiss a comparison of any city to New York because it is so much larger and denser, so the position argues. HK is not so easily dismissed by that crowd.

LI Mike:

The temperature in Hong Kong these days is between 10-20 degrees Celsius (hopefully you can translate that into Fahrenheit). Anything below 15 degrees is considered pretty cold in HK (a cold warning is issued if the temperature hits 10 degrees). It's nothing here in Canada, but keep in mind that people there aren't used to the cold, and there's no heating in buildings or public transport in HK.

Hope you're enjoying Christmas in Vegas East.

Vegas East is actually Macau. I went there too, and will be posting photos of it soon.

More photos of Christmas lights on the HK skyline (I took these while testing out my new camera, a Canon G9).

Some of the photos were taken during the "Symphony of Lights" sound and light show, recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest such show in the world. Note the searchlights and lasers shot off some of the buildings during the show.

Nice pix....shall we take a look at our CN Tower again? Oh wait...yuck...

BTW, how come nobody bitches about the wasting of energy, the enviroment, killing the birds blah blah blah over there? Do those people all migrate to Toronto to protest on our FCP and Scotia towers? LOL
