On one hand, I am happy to see the area "behind" La Defense being revitalized, but on the other hand I am really angry at EPADESA for building those ridiculous mid-rise buildings. The Paris area is facing such a terrible, chronic shortage of housing - let alone affordable housing, and yet all we're able to build are 10-storey buildings?! Sure, central Paris is a different story and I would hate seeing the Haussmannian streets walls interrupted by highrise buildings, but la Defense is one of the only - or maybe THE only neighbourhood in France that allows that many tall buildings. I don't see why we should urbanize this particular area with mid-density housing when it could handle so much more; but I guess Nanterre's nimbys are influential enough, and local politics are just a bunch of cowards seeking re-election... Ugh! -_-
