In the six months that have passed since our last update on Phase One of Essaris Group's Béïque, Legault, Thuot Architects-designed Icône Condos, the cladding has progressed significantly on the 39-storey tower that is soon to be complete. Set to bring 358 residential units to what will eventually be a two-tower development including the planned 27-storey Phase Two in 2017, Icône Condos represents the latest addition to the rapidly intensifying west end of Downtown Montreal.

Located at the heart of the vibrant, pedestrian-friendly, shopping and entertainment district along Rue Ste-Catherine, walking distance to many of Montreal's best shops, restaurants, and cafes, and only steps from the Peel Metro Station, McGill University, and the Musée Des Beaux-Arts Montréal, this new development will truly place its residents in the heart of the action. Seen in the images above and below captured in mid-April, progress on the exterior cladding has been moving along steadily since the tower's topping-off back in late 2015.

Once complete, the mixed-use development will feature a wide selection of amenities, such as a roof-top tennis court, salt-water pool, and a fitness centre. The distinct shape of the building will allow for some stunning panoramic views of the surrounding city and St. Lawrence River, an effect that will be particularly at play within the units that rest upon the tower's unique, exposed cement column.
