Seattleites are taking notice of the concrete core that is climbing above the intersection of 5th Avenue and Madison Street. It belongs to an upcoming office tower called Madison Centre by developer Schnitzer West. The 36-storey highrise will be marked by a glass rotunda at ground level, anchoring a streetscape defined by the historic U.S. Federal Courthouse and the multifaceted facade of the Seattle Public Library.

The rotunda blossoms into three storeys of tenant-focused amenities that include a conference centre with room for over 100 people, a reception and event space, a cafeteria, a workout area, and several lounges. Fireplaces and a three-storey green wall aim to enhance the business-friendly and casual atmosphere of this future space. Tenants commuting via automobile will have plenty of parking stalls to choose from in the seven-level underground garage.

Poised to top out at a height of 161.5 metres, or 530 feet, Madison Centre is pegged to become one of the city's tallest buildings. Its height is matched by its 950,000-square-foot volume, which will also hold retail space at ground level.

The vertical corporate campus, designed by NBBJ, will provide tenants with spectacular views of Puget Sound through soaring glass windows. A slight curve on the 5th Avenue facade brings additional visual interest to the cityscape. With the core and tower crane now firmly anchored to the site, the floor plates should begin assembly in the coming weeks. The project is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in 2017.
