The Beltline's residential growth is being supported with a 34-storey hotel at the corner of 10th Avenue and 5th Street SW, previously home to the Alberta Boot Company. SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts revealed the Residence Inn by Marriott project back in 2013 with a targeted focus on long-stay business and leisure travellers to Calgary

The 390 suites will offer more than the typical bedroom and bathroom combination found in most hotels. Each suite will include a full kitchen and separate living and sleeping areas. Guests will also enjoy access to in-hotel business services, a terrace lounge and roof deck, and a 24/7 self-serve food and beverage pantry.

The hotel's 10,000-square-foot SilverBirch Conference Centre, a signature feature of the hotel brand, offers all-inclusive meeting packages with unlimited indulging at the attached cafe. The building is set to be Canada's largest Residence Inn and one of the largest among its over 600 international properties. It comes at a time when business travel is booming in Alberta's largest city; Calgary currently has one of the highest hotel occupancy rates in Canada.

The project's second component consists of a 33-storey rental tower with 300 units, its own amenity spaces, and 7,000 square feet of retail. With the crane installed and the first underground floors already forming, the anticipated 2019 opening for the Residence Inn should easily be reached.
