As the mixed-use SLS Brickell by The Related Group prepares to debut in the next few months, work on a colourful mural gracing the building's eight-storey parking garage is attracting attention from passersby. Thin columns of vibrant hues are appearing on what was an ordinary facade, the largest blank canvas that artist Markus Linnenbrink has ever worked with. Using a "drip painting" technique where the colours are poured onto the wall, the massive mural will eventually cover a 40,000-square-foot surface.
The piece will serve as a bold first impression for guests staying in the 132-room hotel from hospitality group sbe Entertainment. Over 450 residential units will be sheltered within the upper levels of the 52-floor building, which will also host an impressive six floors of penthouses. Residents won't lose out on the amenities offered to hotel guests — they'll have access to valet parking, in-room dining, and housekeeping services.
Drone photos published in January show the ninth floor terrace conveniences taking shape, including a large rectangular infinity pool. Residents will enjoy a separate, exclusive rooftop pool where they can take in panoramic views of the city and ocean at their leisure. Other amenities include a fitness centre, theatre room, and a 6,000-square-foot ballroom.
The Arquitectonica-designed tower is boxy in shape, but diagonal balcony protrusions interrupt what would normally be a flat elevation. Reservations for the hotel are already being accepted in advance of its scheduled fall opening.
