In the two months since our last update, progress at the Thomas Roszak Architecture-designed 33-storey apartment tower has been swift, with glass cladding now chasing the structure's vertical ascent into the sky.

Built upon the site of a former parking garage, 215 West Lake Street will offer 265 residential rental units, rising above a newly constructed three-storey parking garage. The project will also offer 5,000 square feet of space reserved along its ground-level West Lake Street frontage for retail.

Aside from a full three floors of parking, residents will be provided with an additional two floors of amenity spaces, including a swimming pool and spa, state-of-the-art fitness centre, theatre room, library, business centre, social rooms, and an outdoor terrace. Taking advantage of the parking garage's large footprint, the terrace will be placed on the roof, with the residential portion of the tower set back.

Having recently surpassed its halfway point in height, the 365,000-square-foot tower is quickly becoming a part of the downtown Chicago skyline.

Due to a location that abuts the "L" tracks, residents and trainspotters alike will be pleased to have immediate access to the Downtown Loop. The tower's central location is a must for those in search of a quick commute to work.

Once completed in late 2017, 215 West Lake Street will bring added density to the north-west portion of the Downtown Loop, an area that has been quickly intensifying with the addition of multiple new developments over the last few years.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
