Progress at the site of 833 North Clark has been moving along nicely since our last update, as the 31-storey residential tower is now covered with its two-toned signature precast panelling. Recent photos from our Forum reveal the extent of progress made since April, as the nearly topped-off tower approaches completion.

Located within Chicago's quickly evolving Near North Side neighbourhood, the joint residential development from Ryan Companies and Lincoln Property Company, with Antunovich Associates acting as the architect of record, is now quickly being sealed with glass.

The 373-unit apartment tower will feature nine-foot floor-to-ceiling windows to maximize views, with units ranging in size from 1,180 to 3,250 square feet.

833 Clark will eventually be host to a series of amenity spaces including a rooftop sundeck with outdoor pool, along with a cyber cafe, party room, gaming centre, and fitness centre. An additional green roof on the fourth floor will contain bocce ball courts, fire pits, and barbecues. Seen below, the new development can be appreciated within its surrounding urban context, as Chicago's Near North Side is quickly becoming a forest of highrises and office towers.

Once complete, the new development will be a welcome addition to the neighbourhood, with the tower's signature beige precast panels, along with the podium level's heavy reliance upon granite, helping establish a link to downtown Chicago's iconic architectural heritage. This link will be especially evident at ground level, where the granite facade will provide the retail frontage with an added level of architectural interest and material prestige.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
