When we launched SkyriseCities last year, we couldn’t wait to see which of the 290 cities in our Database would take off first. In our global Forum, members have been tracking construction progress on buildings from Seoul to Paris to Brisbane, but we’ve learned so much more about urban life and development in Calgary.

During the last year, we’ve spoken with Thomas Christoffersen at BIG about their vision for Telus Sky. We’ve spoken with an active transportation planner about the city’s thriving bike lanes. We covered the ground breaking at N3 Condos last fall, and returned this fall to tour the topped-off building. Over in the Forum, we’ve learned about your outlandish dreams for the city, your opinions on whether or not the East Village is a successful neighbourhood, and look forward to learning which building in the Beltline is your favourite (so make sure you vote!).

That’s why we’re so excited to introduce SkyriseCalgary, a new local site from SkyriseCities that will bring the fine-grained coverage we’ve been offering for years at UrbanToronto.ca to the Stampede City.

At SkyriseCalgary, you’ll find the same great community you’ve gotten to know here at SkyriseCities, and you can even log in with your existing SkyriseCities account. You can discuss local development projects and share your photos in the local Forum. You can follow buildings like Brookfield Place in our Project Database to see new photos and be the first to know when exterior work on the tower is completed. You can browse our map to identify projects or construction sites that you’ve seen around the city. And now you can read local Calgary news every day on the front page.
