In the six months since our last update, progress has been moving along at the site of 2nd + Pine, the recently topped-off 40-storey luxury condo tower designed by GBD Architects and Weber Thompson for Equity Residential, which is now nearing completion in downtown Seattle. Its distinctive glass curtain wall with metal accents has all but made it to the top of the tower, and the precast concrete podium base is continuing to fill out, so it will only be a matter of months before the development opens to residents.

Comprised of 400 residential units atop a 300,000-square-foot retail podium, 2nd + Pine is set to become a commanding presence in the heart of the city centre, within close proximity to the Pike Place Market and Macy's, along with many of Seattle's premier attractions, restaurants, and other venues. As for residents, they will be made to feel at home thanks to the inclusion of several amenity spaces, including a rooftop terrace with fireplaces, a movie theatre, and a fitness centre.

Set for completion in 2017, 2nd + Pine will be a welcome addition to downtown Seattle, filling in a void left by a former parking lot. Part of Seattle's ongoing upward ascent and urban intensification, this new project is symptomatic of the changing face of the city.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join in the conversation below.
