It's been over five months since our last project update on Downtown Montreal's Icône Condos, a residential highrise development by Metropolitan Parking Inc. that was designed by Béïque, Legault, Thuot Architects. The 39-storey tower that has risen on the site owned by James Essaris will eventually be complemented by a 27-storey sibling in the coming years. The development has been marketed as one of the city's first "smart affordable luxury" condos, with modern residences embracing a tech-savvy urban lifestyle.

The private one- and two-bedroom units at the corner of René-Lévesque Boulevard and de la Montagne will feature integrated touchscreen technology, European-style loggias, and ceiling heights of nine to 14 feet. A number of on-site amenities — including a saltwater pool, fitness centre, and rooftop terrace with tennis court — cater to the health and wellness needs of residents. A slightly recessed portion of the facade on the eighth floor indicates the presence of the common amenities area.

A pair of recent photos of the complex shows the tower without its externally mounted tower crane, which was disassembled in September. With that obstacle to exterior completion now gone, glazing has sealed the entirety of the tower, with only some small gaps in the facade remaining.
