As 2016 comes to a close, many of Calgary's buildings are just entering their infancy. There's been a lot of new additions to the urban fabric this year and many, many more to come in the very near future. From four-storey residential developments to 56-storey commercial complexes, there's no doubt that Calgary is in the midst of a an urban renaissance. To review and applaud the buildings that are being welcomed to the eternally evolving cityscape, SkyriseCalgary is hosting a year-end poll.

Relying on empirical evidence and our crowdsourced effort, we determined a list of 2016's completed projects and the developments that are currently under construction. To even the playing field a bit, we've broken up the completed and under-construction categories into two subsets according to height.

For the purposes of the survey, we've classified projects as complete if construction activity has evidently concluded and the building is visibly occupied, even if it's just on one floor. For any projects we may have missed, we've added an 'other' option at the bottom of each poll. We know it'd be a difficult decision to choose your absolute favourite, so we've lessened the burden a bit by allowing you to select up to three projects in each category. Each project will feature a hyperlink to the respective Database file, where you can learn more about the development to help inform your decision.

Calgary isn't the only city to vote for though, as our sister site UrbanToronto is also running a poll to select that city's best. UrbanToronto's third annual poll covers the completed buildings that have arisen in Canada's largest metropolis.

You can also vote for your all-time favourite buildings — including the Calgary Tower, The Bow and Suncor Energy Centre — in a separate poll. The polls will remain open until December 20, so get out the vote! The final results will be published on SkyriseCalgary and UrbanToronto on December 23rd.
