Reminds me of how one of Toronto's great street-vista/urban experiences is driving south from Finch along Doris and--wham! a non-stop wall of condos, as far as the eye can see...

Toronto Harbour Commission Building c.1920 (built 1917).
I'm forever fascinated by this building which once existed at the water's edge.
It has stayed in place while our amazing city waterfront simply moved away.

That's captured German submarine UC 97 beside the tug on its tour of the Great Lakes before being sunk in Lake Michigan in 1921 by the US Navy. Hence the large crowd, I imagine.

Whenever I hear of George St., I immediately recall my first job in a photography studio (Pringle & Booth Studios).
It was somewhere between 181 and 199 George St.
No sign of it today because that whole block seems to have been demolished for the Moss Park Armouries.

Thanks for that correct address, JT.
I was at P&B for only 6 months (c, 1955) earning $35 per week!
I believe they moved to Leslie St., in Don Mills when Moss Park took over George St.
and then , later on, moved to Woodbine Ave. in Markham.
Wonder if P&B is still in business?
