Give me one example of when the majority would not prefer underground?

Therefore because of limited finances planners must ignore that request unless it simply won't work above ground.

I am not sure if the Councillors in the area have expressed an opinion on this LRT line, but the Liberal MPP has a strong preference for underground. This really seems like it will be a repeat of the Scarborough situation. The planners will ignore the majority and plan for an on-street LRT when that is not what most want. The Liberal MPP desire to have everything underground will rule the day and the planners will not suggest elevated, just go along with the political views.

Thanks Raul,
3 of the first 4 "not preferred" are actually my preferred (Royal York should be elevated, north side too) - and they look quite nice (although North side Islington could likely be built with much less disruption.

Are you sure some vandal didn't switch the signs at the info session :)

My nitpicks on the renderings would be a) they don't accurately depict traffic conditions - there are more cars on Eglinton on a Sunday morning, let alone peak b) Similar to the rest of Crosstown, the at-grade stations are minimalist and provide a minimum of protection from the elements c) the bus stops are all near side

These are for illustrative purposes. This isn’t supposed to be indicative of shelter design.

So lets get this straight. Because planners decided to 'not prefer' grade seperation at intersections, we are going to cave to political will and have a fully tunneled LRT line in Etobicoke.
Probably,
That's what happened in Scarborough. Planners went with a somewhat cheaper alternative that was despised by the people.
Instead of spending a bit extra to grade-separate, they held firm.
Then the whole thing collapsed and very expensive tunneling was the result.

what a farce. They are going to stick these things at grade because taking an elevator or reading a freaking sign is too difficult for people apparently. Ridiculous. I filled out the survey disputing everything that is in it.

I hope hell is raised at public meetings and in the media. People shouldn’t roll over and accept this.

What is with city planning lately? First the waterfront funicular, now this.

It started at the end of Kessmaats tenure, and is seemingly continuing. If anyone knows, I’d love to hear it.

I feel like I'm the only one who wants to see this built and the extra money be spent towards the drl. I was expecting hostility from Hoskins, burloak but am surprised how many others wanted grade separation. This is not a perfect plan, the excuses maybe bs but that doesn't change the fact this is a financially prudent plan which still makes eglinton faster, more dependable, more comfortable than the current bus. Are we really going to fight this so much that nothing gets built here?
