Where Wayne hangs out is pretty immaterial in the grand scheme of things we really need to worry about

I doubt he has much if any real influence there and he certainly has even less real influence here.

He was, however, a big influence on the success and exposure of Oiler teams he played for and the city they played in and he remains a positive ambassador for Edmonton and for playing/living here.

Can we just rename the entire monstrosity that is 66th st, 75th Street, Gretzky Drive, Fort Road, Manning Drive? One name for the entire road would be so much better. Call it McDavid way for all I care, but driving the major NS corridor on the east side of the city should not come with 5 names!

Who Gretzky supports politically is his business, and should not affect his legacy in Edmonton. Freedom of Expression is part of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and opposing it would be anti-democracy, which this country is proudly built on.

I agree, rename the whole thing to Wayne Gretzky Drive.

I’m still hoping ETS will re-number route 53 to 99.

I agree with you, however that's not the only commuter road that needs to be collapsed into just one name.
St. Albert Road -> Mark Messier Trail -> St Albert Trail -> Groat Road - University Ave
109 St -> 97 Ave -> 98 Ave -> Terrace Road -> 101 Ave -> Baseline Road
Stony Plain Road -> 104 Ave - 103A Ave
111 Ave -> 112 Ave
107 Ave -> 107A Ave -> Stadium Road -> 86 St

I remember when Gretzy supported Pocklington when he ran to be federal PC leader, I guess he had to because he was his boss, but that political campaign did not end successfully.

Then, he supported Don Getty for Premier, whose time in office also didn't end well. Obviously Gretzky's political acumen does match that of his skill on the ice.

My suggestions:
St. Albert Trail and Groat Road are separated by the 118 Ave "traffic circle", however this requires the proper roundabout signage along with the removal of traffic lights.
The Groat Road/87 Ave intersection should be converted from a quasi-roundabout to a full roundabout c/w proper signage.
St. Albert Road -> Mark Messier Trail -> St Albert Trail needs to be renamed to Mark Messier Trail.
97 Ave -> 98 Ave -> Terrace Road -> 101 Ave needs to renamed to Baseline Road all the way to 109 St near the Legislature. 109 St and 97 Ave have the large directional signs so I'll give them that.
104 Ave -> 103A Ave needs to be renamed to Stony Plain Road all the way to Jasper Ave.
111 Ave -> 112 Ave should be renamed to Coronation Boulevard in honor of Coronation Park.
107 Ave -> 107A Ave -> Stadium Road -> 86 St should be renamed to Brick Road or The Brick Road in honor of the first Brick Warehouse store at 101 St/107 Ave,

Except I'd rather they rename baseline to something with a bit more local significance.
