Nevertheless it's worrisome that someone as stale and played out as Tory can generate that much theoretical support.

People are generally going to ask themselves if things are better since Chow took office or worse? We need to recognize this site is not going to be representative of the broader public. I am not a pollster - but I think if you stopped at soccer fields/hockey rinks, Tim Hortons and random subway stations - I am not sure people would feel like there has been meaningful improvements under her tenure. My hot button issues are transit and homelessness - and I really see things getting worse not better. Yes, these issues take time to fix - but in politics that does not matter on election day. If you can't show things getting better then you have to be at least communicating well enough to compensate - and I dont think she is effective there. But then you need to layer on top of that the tax raise she put through and the view(fairly or not) that she is a big spender. She is not a great communicator, does not seem to be able to at least own the quiet but effective manager role, and is burdened by her legacy NDP branding. I can see why there is appetite for change. Is Tory the best candidate to attract it? Does not seem to to me - but it should be a warning to the Chow people that this discussion is even bubbling up at all.

Yeah, her team really needs to start figuring out how to convey what she's done since becoming the Mayor, cause I don't think a lot of people can see an improvement in their lives.
Pool and Library hours are not going to be enough.
They need to stop positioning Tory as the "Trump" candidate here as well if they don't want to turn off centerists.

It's less about whether he's stale and played out, and more about his representing the "natural governing entity" big-tent centre-right. And remember that it's comparable to what Ana Bailao got in '23 as a last-minute-endorsed JT proxy--had the endorsement come earlier (i.e. pre-advance-balloting), we'd be speaking of Mayor Ana, not Mayor Olivia.

So, the coalition of nitwits showed up at City Hall today to protest against........well, everything...........
Anti homeless shelter, anti transit lanes, anti bike lanes, anti taxes.......pretty sure there were people who hated parks, flowers, fancy food and cable news. LOL

Amusing to note, Councillor Bradford who would fit in here quite well and was expected, no showed.

I really don't get why Bradford wants to be part of this crowd. He never used to be like them!
