That is so over-scale and clunky, never mind ugly............it should literally be a jail-able offense just to propose it, never mind build it.

Cut the podium height to 4 normal stories max; Divide the block into 2 with a public street/woonerf down the middle, cut the overall height by 1/3, the floor plates need a trim, then hire someone with talent and taste backed by a healthy material budget.

Yeah this is not happening like any of the other bunch of proposals in downtown Barrie.

Love the idea of density on this block, but this proposal as it stands is a disaster. Way too wide and clunky, and it feels way too much like an architectural walled garden. The towers themselves look like they were copy and pasted from the crappier parts of Toronto's downtown.

The block should be split with a walkway or woonerf halfway between John Street and Victoria Street, put some retail lining Bradford Street and possibly Ellen Street, and then put two towers with a 4 to 7 storey podium on the larger south portion. The leftover portion to the north can be combined with the smattering of buildings to its north to make another viable parcel.

And yes, I know the water table means underground parking is probably off the table, but keep that in the middle instead of lining the perimeter!

Yeah they are proposing this and debut waterfront still hasn't even broken ground on their second tower of 32 tower development Barrie has a lot of proposed height but I don't see them having the draw even in a good market for projects like this yet Plus Barrie still has plenty of room within its limits for single family homes which are more apt to sell then large towers like this
