The Oil got hot late and cooked the Habs -- .563
As if I didn't already have enough reason to be salty about BC. I simply can't come to like this place, for the life of me. Canucks fans just add insult to injuryGet a gander at the genius and rather insulting reporting at BC's the "Province" newspaper....apparently - in quotes - I might add - At least there’s a pair of exciting hockey games to look forward to, right? Canucks play at home in a rare Saturday/Sunday home daily double, the Montreal Canadiens visit on Saturday and the “All We Have To Be Proud Of Is A Giant Mall” Oilers on Sunday. That's what Canuck's fans and beat reporters have been lowered to - Insulting remarks......

After dream start to road trip things turned Halloweenish with a pair of bad losses as Canucks come home to try and restore pridetheprovince.com
Can you imagine any other team in the league “needing some offence” that wouldn’t salivate over adding McDavid or Draisaitl or half a dozen others from this roster?Looks like we got goalied once again... 33 shots, 2 goals, 1 on the PP and both by D men.
We need some offensive; the Ducks have 3 more goals than us this season?!?!?!
It goes back to playmaking which in turn goes back to forward lines settled around "star" centres. The problem with experimentation is that none of that is developable in the early stages (some of it is tried in pre-season games but the main thrust then is to get it down to the "permanent squad"). And that is why I opined that the Oilers would face their greatest number of losses early on in the season and get better as line mates gelled one with the other with practice and relevant game-play. Another way of saying that is that the shots on goal are (majority) non-play-making shots (think being fired at the goalies chest plate)... so shots-on-goal "numbers" become somewhat irrelevant on the Oilers' side. The sooner lines become more fixed the sooner there will be what I want to refer to as ace-play-making abilities (little wonder the goals are being scored by defensemen, all of whom are at least familiar with each other). We need some offensive; the Ducks have 3 more goals than us this season?!?!?!

I think we just need to be a little bit patient while the lines get sorted and that settling in should start next week when Hyman returns. In the meantime the coaches are learning a lot about what they have to work with and the players are learning a lot about who they’re playing with.
Honestly, I feel like Coffey is being missed as Defensive coach. Other than that, coaching staff feels better than last year's, imo.Let's not forget that the coaching staff has changed this past summer.
Glen Gulutzan left to become the head coach for the Dallas Stars.
Paul Coffey has gone back to an advisory role with the team.
Paul McFarland has replaced Gulutzan, so he's in charge of the PP.
Mark Stuart has replaced Coffey as the defense coach.
Peter Aubrey has replaced Dustin Schwartz.
